More goodies. This blog is all about the process of artistic development, warts and all.
Ur Sumerians from Berliner. Everyone in sheepskin kilts
Music and Dance in Egypt. Berliner set.
Friedrich set Sekmet Princess. A purrfect group, I think.
Nefertiti's Ride Berliner set
Nefertiti herself. I want to show how I paint the human form under drapery.
My aim in setting up this blog is in exploring flats (zinnfiguren) as an art form. Once thought of as playthings, flats have evolved into very artistic pieces, created for and treasured by collectors. I prefer to explore flats in a contextual setting by putting them into shadow-box dioramas of artistic merit which can be reasonably contained within a manageable space. The chronology of this web blog will hopefully blaze a definite trail in this direction.

More sets being developed
I have started laying the groundwork for more sets. Braune's Custer set.
This picture was upright on my computer. They need to fix the bugs on these blogs....
Moses and the Golden Calf set from Wilken. I can recognise Charlton Heston and Edward G Robinson...

Finally to round off this mammoth painting round
The cro-magnons and their meal.
On my computer, this looked upright...
When completed, this should make a great scene/

Happy Easter
And what better way to celebrate the day then with some easterners...
I started on Segom's Assurbanipal Assyrian Lion Hunt. These figures are chunky and the castings are thicker than most other flats. The details are rough but I think that careful painting will make this set.
I also went to town on the Ochel Assyrians.
Slave market
Hebrews paying tribute
Close up detail of the Patriach riding mules
The famous Sardanaplus bed orgy scene
The King and his Queen
Other revellers. These Aryans knew how to have a good time.
One tipsy reveller staggering to his couch.

Ochel Babylonians
Finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with this huge collection. I intend to do at least 3 scenes with these figures, some of which are interchangeable between settings.
Figures with resculpted feet and hands
Almost finished figures, barring intricate detailing

Impressionists fully identified
Starting to have fun with this eclectic set. I would probably display this set with an impressionistic backdrop.
