Snake Charmer Diorama

I finally made a boxed diorama out of this scene by Jean-Leon Gerome. No lights on this one as the depth is quite shallow.

The box was made from basswood sections. The material is sufficiently strong for a small display like this. The edges were reinforced with square blocks of wood. The strip of wood in front of the painted background was glued there to tilt the base.

The background to this scene was painted on plastic card with suitable tile patterns. The base was tilted to the front to give a sense of theatrical presentation. This view shows the tilt to the front.

The figure bases were eventually trimmed off and the figures were glued onto the base.

The modified frame was from Ikea.
